What is lifestyle? Sounds like a very simple question but it has a lot more to do with each one’s life. It is a habit, attitude, interest, moral standard, consumption, economic status that altogether make up a person’s or a group’s persuasion of life.

Some basic Lifestyle practices that affect health:

Unhealthy eating habits:

Diet is one of the most crucial parts towards a healthy lifestyle. Many of us have set habits when it comes to eating. Some are really adaptive, while others aren’t so great. Even though you’ve had the same eating routine for a while, it’s never too late to modify it. Nobody ever eats precisely all the time! We don’t merely binge and gain weight because of a lack of willpower. It can occasionally be a subtle bad habit that you picked up without even realizing it, such as rushing out the door in the morning without eating breakfast or snacking on chips while watching TV. One tiny unhealthy habit might add up to a lot of weight gain the next thing you know. What’s worse, you might not even be aware of the damage you’re doing to your diet.

Fast-paced lifestyles leave people with little time for meal preparation or leisurely eating. People then turn to fast food and preservative-filled frozen items instead of eating wholesome, wholesome cuisine. Unwanted diseases and maladies result from this. Weight gain commonly known as Obesity is the most obvious result of this. But when unhealthy behaviors are practiced regularly, you run the risk of not only being overweight but also having high cholesterol or blood pressure, diabetes or any number of other health issues. In the last few years, the percentage of obese people in our community has doubled. Most bodies rely more on medications and supplements than they do on healthy, nutritious whole foods.

Low water intake:

Dehydration is when your body does not contain enough water. About 80% of what makes up an adult human is water. It is essential for the normal functioning of every organ, cell, and tissue in our bodies, which is why getting enough water each day is crucial. It is advised to consume six to eight, eight-ounce glasses of water each day. Most individuals can get by with six, or eight if you’re more physically active.

Lack of sleep:

The amount of sleep you require for your optimal health and everyday function is also likely influenced by genetic, behavioral, and environmental factors. The lack of sleep is a result of a variety of lifestyle factors, including screen time, lengthier commutes, and the blurring of work and leisure time. A person needs a minimum of seven to eight hours of restful sleep per night to lead a healthy existence. Lack of sleep obstructs the body’s ability to boost its immune system and release cytokines to fight illness. Chronic health issues like heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, obesity, and depression are all associated with sleep deprivation caused due to lack of sleep.

Lack of exercise and physical fitness:

A requisite part of a healthy lifestyle is exercise. Being physically active can improve your brain health, assist in weight management, lower your risk of disease, strengthen your bones and muscles, and increase your capacity to carry out daily tasks. Exercise also avoids health problems, improves strength, boosts energy, and can help you live longer. Adults who are active by spending less time sitting and engaging in any level of moderate-to-vigorous exercise reap some health benefits.

Excess consumptions:

The risk of several dangerous health issues rises as a result of excessive alcohol drinking, smoking and drugs. These short-term physical impacts of chronic substance use may result in long-term alterations to a person’s brain and body.
